Affordable Care Act and Employers - Understanding Affordable and Minimum Value Coverage


The Affordable Care Act (ACA) can be confusing for employers and employees alike - and both parties should know their rights.

In general, provisions of employer shared responsibilities in the ACA say that an applicable large employer may either offer affordable minimum essential coverage that provides minimum value to its full-time employees and their dependents, or potentially owe an employer shared responsibility payment to the IRS.
